Treatment Options

In the past orthodontics used large metal bands that were placed around each tooth in order to move the teeth. The latest materials are far less noticeable and our innovative technology enables us to move teeth faster. Orthodontic appliances today are made of metal, ceramic or plastic. They may be removable appliances or they may be brackets bonded directly to the teeth. The appliance will place a constant, yet gentle force on the teeth, which moves them into the proper position.

Metal braces

The most popular with kids and teenagers. They love changing the colors of ligature ties at their adjustment appointments. Today’s metal braces are made of a high-grade stainless steel or titanium and are much smaller, comfortable and attractive than ever before.

Ceramic (Clear) braces

The most popular with adults due to their cosmetic appeal. Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are therefore less visible on your teeth than metal braces. You have to be very close to someone to be able to see them. While they are visually less prominent, they do require more attention to oral hygiene as ceramic braces are larger and are more brittle than their metal counterparts. For these reasons, ceramic braces tend to be used more on upper front teeth than on lower teeth.

Iconix® Aesthetic Braces

Iconix stainless steel champagne colored brackets truly offer the best of both worlds – the durability of stainless steel and the aesthetics of “white” gold. A unique proprietary process ensures these brackets will stay champagne color for the duration of treatment. Iconix brackets are a very pleasing, cosmetic orthodontic system that requires literally no sacrifice on your part.

A system of straightening teeth without the use of conventional braces. A series of clear plastic aligners are utilized to create tooth movement. Moving teeth with removable aligners is nothing new. The latest technology utilizes a computer simulation program which can generate a series of aligners to gradually move the teeth. Invisalign is recommended for both children and adults and for orthodontic situations with mild spacing or crowding. They are virtually undetectable, easy to use and comfortable to wear.

Self-ligating braces

Empower® or Damon® self-ligating bracket systems utilize sliding door or “clip” technology that allows the wire to slide back and forth within the bracket. This technology does not require the use of color elastics and thus creates less friction and results in faster and more comfortable movement of teeth for some cases. Self-ligating braces are the same size and are made from the same materials as traditional braces. Self-ligating braces come in traditional metal, ceramic, or clear brackets.
